A Finishing Touch

The follow through after a closing is just as important as what occurs during the transaction. However, in some instances, it takes a little extra “oomph”… a finishing touch.

For example, last week we had clients in town that that recently purchased a condo and wanted to do some updating. Their new home was beautiful, but the furnishings had likely not been changed in over 20 years. Considering that they live on the mainland and there were only four and a half days to accomplish this quick turnaround between guest stays, we knew it was time to jump into action.

Thus began an exhilarating week that could have worked as an impressive and entertaining episode of Extreme Home Makeover. With some excellent planning beforehand, our new owners reached out to Kathy and Cindy, the spectacular duo from Beach House Furnishings Maui. They started the ball rolling by arranging an initial furniture package which was to be delivered by the helpful and attentive Rick, with Innovative Upholstery.

As planned, Rick jumped into action on Monday and removed all old furnishings then delivered the Beach House Order on Tuesday. And just like that, we were off and running. Wow!

Next up came the essential trip to Costco, where the “guys” in Greg’s trusty Tundra set out to pick up three brand new TV sets while the “ladies” stayed behind to start unpacking and placing decor. With a successful Costco mission completed and a tight deadline looming, the gentlemen didn’t have the luxury of being just “the muscle” this time around. Their additional assignment? To see Allison at Pacific Home for some additional furniture. Can’t you just picture it? “Oh look, this entry table would work!” They did well – the pieces they chose looked great.

Being immensely proud of ourselves after full day of installation and updating, we looked around at our efforts but then noticed … THE EXISTING KITCHEN TABLE DIDN’T MATCH ANYTHING! So, two new owners and two Realtors once again descended upon Pacific Home and Beach House Furnishings, (who did not seem surprised to see us, incidentally) and again saved the day.

With one more day, another shopping trip, the installation of art and a few more carefully placed decorative items, our mission was finally complete. Four tired but happy folks looked around and loved what we saw. Slightly frantic? Maybe. But also, a lot of fun.

Is it par for the course of typical real estate brokers? Probably not, but it’s what makes us, us.

Aloha, Greg & Leah
