Lahaina Paddle Out
Lahaina Paddle Out – August 8, 2024
Aloha Family & Friends
As you all know, August 8th marked the one-year anniversary of the 2023 Maui fires. It was a solemn occasion, and we want to thank you for the kind sentiments that were shared.
In partnership with the County of Maui, a group of island wide volunteers created “Kuhinia Maui” which offered a series of meaningful tributes for a week of remembrance with reverence and hope. The event that touched us the most was the morning Lahaina Paddle Out. There were two remarkable aspects to the event.
First, was the actual Paddle Out itself. Hundreds of surfboards, canoes, boats, and paddle boards came together to honor all that was lost in the beautiful blue waters off the shores of Ka’anapali Beach.
The second aspect of the day took place not on the ocean, but on the beach. People came together as one – not just from Lahaina, but from all of Maui, all of Hawaii and beyond. We wish we could explain how it felt to be united in that manner. Yes, there were tears. And reminiscing. But undeniably, the strongest emotion of the day was … hope. Hope that is fueled by the confirmed resilience of an entire community.
As Real Estate professionals, it’s not unusual for friends and clients to ask us questions not only on the recovery of Lahaina, but also how it pertains to the market. In addition to our individual area experiencing immense change over the past year, our industry itself on a national level is also going through a major change. This gave us an idea. If there is a specific question you’d like answered, either about the real estate market or simply about life on Maui, drop us a line.
We look forward to hearing from you. But for now, just know that our community continues to pull together with the shared goal of rebuilding our town and supporting the heart of Lahaina.
Aloha, Greg & Leah
